Taylor Momsens Music: Hit or Miss?

Hey everyone!

Alot of us have heard the new Leighton Meester song: Your Love’s a Drug. Personally I adored the song!

But what about Taylors rock edge music? It’s very different from Leightons, but what are your opinions?

I LOVE Taylors music. Even though I’m normally not into rock, Taylor made me see it in a whole other way. My favorites are Blender and Make Me Wanna Die.

What do you guys think?

Gossip Girl Season 1 Music Feature

I was undeniably stuck for a first post topic, as the writers here do fantastic jobs and have pretty much covered everything I could think of, but one thing GG aids most in my life that hasn’t made much of an appearance on this website is its music.

Hello lovelies! I’m Coco and I’m another new writer for watch-gossip-girl.com. It’s great to be a part of this amazing website, and I really hope I can give you equally as wonderful posts as the other writers for this site.

That’s right! I think the Gossip Girl producers do a great job picking out the best tunes for each episode. GG constantly features great beats that fit each scene perfectly. Here are a list of my favourite songs of season one, paired with some of my favourite moments, because I was in a desperate need of a blast from the past.

As there are an average of 12 songs played per episode, there are a lot I had to leave out, and this is only part one — part two, featuring songs from episodes 11-18, will be posted later. Hope you enjoy it!

Young Folks by Peter Bjorn And John

Heard in: Pilot.

When: Serena takes the train back to town — and straight to Blair’s house, right after her long-time admirer Dan Humphrey spots her at Grand Central Station. The iconic whistle of this song’s opening tune is the very first thing we hear from GG, ever.

Hang Me Up To Dry by The Cold War Kids

Heard in: Pilot.

When: Nate and Blair meet up after he confesses to sleeping with Serena. She tells him it’s okay, and that all he has to do is promise to never speak to her again.

Hard To Live In The City by Albert Hammond Jr

Heard in: Pilot.

When: Blair, Chuck, Nate, Kati and Is are in the limo on the way to the Kiss On The Lips party. The perfect song to introduce the lives of an Upper East Sider.

Believe by The Bravery

Heard in: The Wild Brunch

When: Serena walks down the street and chucks her phone into the trash can after going through old photos of her and her friends, having lost them all — including Dan.

Glamorous by The Constance Billard A Capella Choir

Heard in: Poison Ivy

When: The GG characters get ready in the morning for the big day. It then panned over to Jenny and her choir friends, belting it out — we should have seen Taylor Momsen’s music career right there and then!

Moon River by Henry Mancini

Heard in: Bad News Blair

When: Blair has that dream (or nightmare?) in front of Bendel’s, where she sees Serena in the display window. This song also plays as Dan hears Blair confront Serena about stealing her photoshoot.

Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston

Heard in: Bad News Blair

When: The girls make up, steal Eleanor’s clothes, and run about the town taking their own photos! One of my favourite GG moments ever.

Something Like That by Tim (aka Song And Wager)

Heard in: Dare Devil

When: Dan and Serena finally kiss, Lily finally takes Eric home, and Blair finally accepts Jenny as she returns after nearly getting arrested as a prank by Blair and her friends.

Happy Ending by Mika

Heard in: A Handmaiden’s Tale

When: Nate is confronted by his parents about the drugs that weren’t his, and Dan comes home to find Vanessa waiting with their favourite Greek food, and they apologise.

Stripper by Sohodolls

Heard in: Victor/Victrola

When: Blair dances for Chuck. Who could forget.

With Me by Sum 41

Heard in: Victor/Victrola

When: Blair and Chuck get it on in the backseat of his limo! A classic GG moment, no doubt. Also played as Jenny confronts her mother and asks her to come home.

Rich Girl by The Virgins

Heard in: Seventeen Candles

When: Nate is lying down with his earphones plugged in, deep in thought and looking ever-so-cute, just as his mother inerrupts.

Whenever We Finish by Two Hours Traffic

Heard in: Seventeen Candles

When: Dan confronts his mother about not coming home sooner, when Jenny needed her the most. Aww. I wish I had a brother like Dan.

Fernando Pando by The Virgins

Heard in: Seventeen Candles

When: Serena agrees to try to get along with Vanessa. Don’t we miss those days?

Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Heard in: Seventeen Candles

When: Serena beats Vanessa in her slightly over-dramatised Guitar Hero solo. Needless to say she plays it better than I do.

How Does It Feel? by Eskimo Joe

Heard in: Seventeen Candles

When: Nate and Jenny talk and he confesses it was his father who wants them to get back together, not him. Also heard when Blair’s birthday cake comes out, but she runs off crying.

Radio Christiane by The Virgins

Heard in: Seventeen Candles

When: Serena and Vanessa finally bond, and Chuck brings Blair her birthday gift — the gorgeous necklace she thought Nate was going to give her instead.

Nolita Fairytale by Vanessa Carlton

Heard in: Blair Waldorf Must Pie!

When: the Thanksgiving montage plays, showing their lives last year and this year. Another one of my favourite scenes as it really shows us how some things change but others always stay the same.

The Secret by The Pierces

Heard in: Hi, Society

When: the characters dance at the debutante ball…right before Nate takes a swing at Carter, much to the delight of Chuck, who planned it all.

Apologise by OneRepublic

Heard in: Hi, Society

When: Lily watches with satisfaction as Dan carries Serena away, Cece takes her medication, Blair and Nate are finally together and Chuck, who saw it all happen, leaves town. Aww.

This is my take on Reversals Of Fortune, it’s not my best, but I hope they’ll get better as time goes on. In later episodes I may focus on particular feelings or scenes or storylines, not just a summary of the plot.

Okay so I was asked to write a song for GG – about what I think will happen in the finale. Well, I started to write it on Saturday… and it turned into a season summary with a bit of finale stuck on at the end xD But oh well… y’all will live, right?
Here is the song I wrote… I know I’m not the best singer in the world, but I sing in tune and all I need it for is to protray my songwriting… so here goes.
