Gina Torres has been casted to be Vanessa’s mother – Gabriela Abrams. She is described to be warm and outgoing. She also expresses strong opinions about things especially things concerning her daughter. Gina is scheduled to be in two episodes of season 3 but she may be on more. She has not been spotted on set yet but when she is, we’ll let you know.

About Gina:

Her parents were both of Cuban descent, and her father worked as a typesetter for La Prensa and the New York Daily News. Gina began singing at an early age and attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. She applied and was accepted to several colleges but could not afford to attend. Torres subsequently decided that college wasn’t what she needed and chose to pursue her dream of being a performer.

In 2009 she was in one episode of the TV series Pushing Daisies.
