At the American Eagle Outfitters Times Square Flagship Store Grand Opening
We all love Leighton Meester. But what the hell happened to her!? Blair Waldrof is the epitome of classiness. Leighton, at one point of time, was too. Not, however, anymore.
Her dress is undeniably bad-ass – I love the leather mini with a slight peek-a-boo thing going on. And she couldn’t have chosen better shoes than a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood. But her face! It seems to me that she was going for a crying-all-night-covered-up-by-a-bad-vampire-esque-eyes look. It looks just awful. The hints of purple and gold – not helping. And the red lips do nothing to help this already horrendous look either – if anything, it makes it look worse. (Is it just me, or does she really look like a female version of the Joker from Batman? *shudder*) Her hair looks limp and unkept, and not in a sexy way.
This, lovelies, is what people in the fashion industry call an attempt at goth-chic that fell flat on it’s face. Look closely because it is a rare phenomenon and you may (hopefully) not see another one like this for the next 473290147023 years.
I’m pretty sure I speak for everyone when I say that I hope that this is the last we see of this look from Leighton, yes?

i think that he clothes are good but the make up is horrible. it’s like someone punched her in the eyes before she took thes picture. i think lose the black eye look and just rock her nice red lips both is just to much to handle. the only one who could rock this look is th e joker and look where that got him

I was really shock when I saw this picture, and I had to look twice. Well I can’t belive it! It looks very horrible…

her makeup and hair look like she didn’t have a stylist/makeup artist booked for the event and just gave herself the makeover.
my god, she is Blair not a twilight character. dress, eyes. horrid. only handbag and heels are acceptable.

Just because she is portraying a character on screen does not mean she is obligated to dress like them. Leighton is probably sick of being called “Blair,” but I don’t think that is why she chose this look, regardless.

I disagree. I think the smoky eyes and the red lips are very now. It gave her a vamp look with the leather mini dress. This a/w is all about leather and studs.
I think its great that Leighton broke out of her character as Blair. Just because u play a certain character doesn’t mean u have to adopt it to ur day to day basis as well. At the end of the day her real name is Leighton Meester not Blair Waldorf, and i’m sure she attended that event representing herself not Blair Waldorf.
First of all Blair and Leighton is two different persons and Leighton ddoes not need
to copy Blair since she is her own person. And second I never thougth i a million years that Leighton
would look this horrible. I like the outfit and dig the shoes, but girl what’s up with the creepy vampire make-up??
Leighton should be able to dress anyway she wants. Just because her makeup isn’t great
doesn’tgive you the right to talk badly about her. Evryone has the choice to dress how they
want, and not how their character dresses
i think, that there’s no point to whine about her make-up or clothes. it’s her style and she likes to experiment. i love people who experiment with their clothes(until they don’t wear running boots). and i think that style shouldn’t be criticized, only maybe by some huge, totally perfect fashionistas.
i think that leigthon can wear whatever she wants, and we shouldn’t criticize her make-up or clothes like this. i’m not sure that you dress perfectly. it’s awesome, when people experiment with their style. and i think that only people who are allowed to criticize sb’s style are some huge, totally perfect fashionistas. e.g. Wintour. so people, don’t whine so much. be bold and enjoy boldness.

personally, i think she looks awful.
this is not because i cannot tell the difference between meester and blair, nor because i am a fashion clone who hates any form of creative experimentation. i just dont think she looks that good here; the pale foundation makes her look palid and the grey eye shadow ages her – the red lipstick just makes her look seem all the more bizarre.
this is my opinion, and i am entitled to it just as much as meester is allowed to dress whatever the hell way she wants. criticize the reasons for my opinion, but dont say that no one has the right to say she looks awful. freedom of expression goes with freedom of speech.

Smokey eyes and red lips are extremely in this year but that doesn’t mean smokey eyes and red lips suit everyone. If you can’t pull of a trend, then don’t.
And of course there is more to Leighton than Blair which is why I not once said “Blair has let us down” or “Blair would never dress like that”. But representing yourself doesn’t mean you have to go all out horrendous and in a direction completely opposite to that of your character on a show. Blake Lively isn’t just Serena is she? She dresses impeccably even out side the show. Does that mean she isn’t Blake?
I firmly believe that people should be able to dress the way they want as it reflects on your personality but wearing what you want doesn’t mean you can’t dress well too.
So you might want to think about that.

I love the dress, but the goth look is too Kristen Stewart, you know? oh well, the outfit is absolutely fine, but the make up needs work!!

Fair skinned girls can rarely pull off grey/black/silver smokey eye looks … it just doesn’t work for her.
The dress is hot! I love how she actually wore a tube top underneath; most celebrities wouldn’t, thinking they should show as much skin as possible! Great decision!…Her hair looks good, it suits the dress, it has a kinda messy but sexy look!…I think the red lipstick would have been fine if it was a shade darker! But I must agree that the eye make-up is terrible! Don’t know what she was thinking!…Her shoes are gorgeous! I so want them! I actually kind of like it- it’s just a shocker to see so much make-up on her, as she usually keeps it quite casual. The eyes are a tad bit too heavy, when paired with a red lip. I am not one for rules of make-up, but here’s one to stick to ; either the eyes or the lips ( unless you can pull it off) and what Leighton is wearing is nice attempt, but not very succesful. That dress on the other hand. I WANT IT SO BADLY. It looks really good on her! And those shoes *wishes she could walk in heels like that*
I for one, think she looks awful. Maybe if she styled her hair and toned down with the eye makeup, it would look right. She could use a lighter lipstick instead of bright red – it doesn’t go with her skin. But her dress and shoes are amazing. This is just my opinion. I also think she’s awesome for trying out a new look.
