Here are some of fashions Do’s and DONT’S! Gossip Girl FASHION POLICE.
WE’LL start off with our all time favorite jessica szohr oh wait that’s not our all time favorite. Doesn’t matter because here are some wardrobe’s that you just shouldn’t take out in public …or at home for that matter.
But don’t worry jessica fans i managed to find some pictures where she looks radiant!
And Let’s begin!…
DON’T wear a purple shirt ,with long earrings(with different shades of purple), gold long necklace, sky-blue skinny jeans with pink-ish/cream boots.
DON’T wear LIME green thighs at all!!!!!!with colorful shoes, a PINK PURSE and a black puffy jacket while standing next to a hottie!(which by the way chace DOES make it look better and the jacket(on the 2nd picture) alone is awesome)no matching at all.
Do i really have to say it? this is obviously a DONT! a colorful shirt, with a black print sweater, gold jewelery, jean skirt, black thighs, AND to top it off pink sneakers….once again standing next to a hottie…who would go out like that with a hottie like chace? i know I WOULDNT.
If being next to a hottie like Chace didn’t help her wardrobe well it only gets worse when she’s by herself. Apperantly pink shoes are her favorite with black thighs.Even if the shoes where another color i wouldn’t be caught dead wearing those? is she going out somewhere or is she getting ready to go to a construction site? Definetly a DON’T
wow..um did she get that shirt or sweater whatever it is from her grandma’s closet? And those look like leather thighs! with purple lower cut boots?i know they kind of match the shirt but that is DEFINETLY WITH NO DOUBT IN MY MIND A DON’T
I’ll put this on neutral because even though i think the shirt is to low cut. It at least matches the jacket if the shirt wasn’t that low cut then it would look ok. as for the jeans…can they be anymore flare or was she trying some colorful shoes?That’s a no for me.
ok ok enough with the ugly wardrobres my eyes where starting to hurt. Here you go a decent and BEAUTIFUL picture of Jessica. Her hair is down with those summer waves and that beautiful dress. She looks radiant!but the shoes…i don’t think they go with what shes wearing but hey it’s progress at least she looks great from the ankle and up.NEUTRAL
FINALLY! A PICTURE WHERE JESSICA LOOKS BEAUTIFUL WITH NO MISTAKE. her hair is in a beautiful updo, The white dress complimates her figure and most importantly..NO SHOES!you can’t see them. thank god. Make a necklace could of helped her a FEW accessories never hurt but other than that this is DEF. a DO
And I’ll finish with this picture where Jessica looks sexy and color cordinated. If you can find something wrong with this…well then…please tell me DEF a DO

just so you know at least one of these looks (the pink shoes where she is by herself) are from the shoe, so you should talk to the costume designers from the show.

as you pointed out on sidereel you would like to get feedback. I am not a native English speaker, so I am not qualified to tell you anything about style and vocabulary, but you should pay more attention to punctuation and orthography if you want to be taken seriously as a journalist. Hope you will remember this before applying anywhere, so you check for spelling before you send anything or even worse publish it.

Uh, “feedback”, this is a Gossip Girl site, it isn’t the newspaper. Also, this is the INTERNET! Not a word document. We aren’t dumb, we all know how to spell and know punctuation, but some of the fun on the ‘net is not having it taken seriously! We can type and spell like idiots and we all understand. It ruins the fun when some tight-ass comes in and judges it and goes on about publishing careers and proper journalism.

I read lots of fashion critics- i like the sense of humour in yours but thing it would be better with an awful outfit to pick outsomething particularly bad not just say the top ,bottom, shoes etc are wrong.. it gets a bit exhausting
make me comment on the cut+print eg if that top was print it would work with the rest of the outfit… or that cut is compeltely wrong for her it accentuates her blah blah and doesnt do her any favours etc

if you notice, all the dont’s are Vanessa, not Jessica. when are you guys gonna understand, if jessica doesnt wear 80’s type and extremely colorful clothes and starts dressing elegantly like the UES people, how r we gonna know that she is from brooklyn and not one of the princesses? vanessa’s outfits, admittedly disgusting, are SUPPOSED to be like that. This is a site where we have fun and write articles to inform you about Gossip Girl since we all love it.We are not running a newspaper where a lot of adults are reading. Most of our viewers are teenagers. So just let loose. We all know how to spell and we’re all great with punctuation but we just like to have FUN sometimes.
I like the leather tighs it´s very fashionable, a lot of famous girls wear it
the poofy black jacket was worn because it was friggin cold and she had to take it off when they began shooting. They are in new york while it’s winter after all and all she’s wearing is tights and a small jacket. and like what the other people said, all these pics are of VANESSA not JESSICA! Her character is supposed to be all crazy and “don’t give a shit” attitude and whatnot. plus, her pink shoes and leather-looking tights were cool looking. Oh and you don’t sound natural when you’re trying to make fun of how she’s dressing. You sound like you’re trying too hard to be witty and funny.
much agreed with “soop”; it’s VANESSA, and that’s how her character dresses. her clothes are picked to suit her character, not your fashion sense.
I’d like to share a few thoughts.
first, you should try to find something positive about everything; it does get a little exhausting, like “anonnn” said. don’t criticize her wearing “this plus this plus this and this,” just say that certain things don’t go well together or suit her body type, but certain things do and look good on her as well.
…and you ARE trying too hard to be witty and funny (as “soop” said). i’m a journalist, and I think that even though this is the internet, etc if you really want to do this for a living, you should start a fashion blog – if you want to be able to attract lots of regular readers and subscribers, you DEFINITELY need to write with good vocabulary, spelling, and especially capitalization. if you’re in middle school or high school, that is definitely the first step to getting anywhere. it will give you some good experience, please trust me.
and thanks “feedback,” I think you have a very valid point. i understand this is the internet, but “feedback” gave some wonderful advice, and it was meant well (as is this), especially in relation to what you want to do with your future – which is why you asked on sidereel for others to give you advice for what to do in life. start with a blog that’s worth reading – normal language, good vocabulary and spelling, etc with a good meaning (that’s very important.) maybe talk about style, body types, fashion of the week or whatever instead of just criticizing the stars. if you’re in middle school or high school, an exceppent example (finalist for teen blogs, written by a high schooler) is http://www.misscouturable.com/

ok I think that you make a good point and all,
but you need to know that Jessica has a great style but she has to wear ugly things on Gossip girl to fit her character as Vanessa.
All of the ones that you said were radiant or beautiful were Jessica’s real style, and the ones you said were ugly were just the things she wears on gossip girl.

hi jessica, i’ve done some journalism myself and it’s a really great field, so good luck with it
my one piece of advice or feedback to you, though, would be to learn to take constructive criticism – you put your work up on the site and asked for feedback, which is really brave and admirable of you, to put yourself out there like that. but then when someone comes along who genuinely wants to help, you said: “We are not running a newspaper where a lot of adults are reading. We all know how to spell and we’re all great with punctuation but we just like to have FUN sometimes.” which is fine, i can totally see where you’re coming from, but if you ask for feedback then you have to be able to take it and possibly learn from it. ‘feedback’ was just trying to help, and they’re right, you do need to look out for punctuation and grammar if you want to be a journalist. if this was just some “fun” and you didnt want negative feedback, maybe you shouldnt have asked people their opinion?
Doc Martens are actually quite fashionable, and even “trendy.” They are a classic icon of the 90’s grunge fashion era, and are seen nowadays on runways and magazines for nostalgic chic.
I just wanted to point out that ‘hayley’ is right on track. You want to become a fashion reporter? Learn how to take criticism, though, true, this site is based off a lot of teenage viewers, and you all know how to spell, if you are interested in becoming a journalist, you’re going to have to use correct grammar.
Also, I would also like to point out that ‘Georgia’ was actually kind of nice about this, I don’t know why everyone is attacking her.
As for your review, like everyone else is saying, this is how Vanessa dresses on the show, not how Jessica Szohr dresses. Also, probably not the best thing to list everything she is saying, then say ‘DON’T’ or “DO’.

Yes, anybody can simply list the clothing items being worn and stamp a ‘do’ or ‘don’t’ label on the end.
What I mean is, people can see for themselves what she is wearing. You might be better off to point out WHY it is wrong to combine these things.
For example, the first picture brings in too many colours. While purple and orange are complimentary colours, the sky-blue adds just a bit too much. If she had toned it down slightly with a pair of black jeans, the outfit would go quite nicely.
Perhaps it is merely a teenage website, and perhaps you do know how to spell. So if you know how to spell, then why deliberately create spelling mistakes? That seems a little silly to me.
And finally, as has been mentioned, it is a good idea to learn to accept criticism since it is the only way to learn, and much of the advice given to you here is very good.
