Hey people!
As you all know, I’m a fashion enthusiast and will be attending New York Fashion Week this season. I was shocked to find out how much our favorite Gossip Girl stars get to just attend the show!
Blake Lively: $50,000 per show
Leighton Meester: $40,000 per show
Hilary Duff: $40,000 per show
Taylor, Jessica, Michelle and other Gossip Girl stars: $25,000 per show
This has been confirmed by Fashionista.com
Shocked? I was. Gossip Girl stars come under B List celebrities and this is quite a lot. Of course, Rihanna gets about $100,000 or more, so.

ok, i’m a very naive person…I used to think they’d go to show because they loved the style and the fashion! I saw a french documentary about fashion shows in which leighton briefly appeared backstage the “proenza schouler” show…well she was paid to do so!! Maybe none of them truly has style!

i think leighton should have gotten paid more than blake.. leighton is a better actress and in all the recent polls ive seen she is the favourite of the show..but that is just my opinion.

But Blake is better known in the fashion industry and she dresses MUCH better – of course opinions are debatable but it can’t be denied that Blake is more well known for fashion and big designers like her better – in terms of modelling. Also GG caters to a certain portion of teens or adults or youngsters, but for the bunch who dislike it, leighton is not known outside of GG (until quite recently), Blake has done other works that are quite popular.
Blake dresses in skank wear half the time.

blake dresses well but its often so normal and boring, while lighton idresses more in an artistic way…i like that. it is something different, and me, if i was a fashiondesigner, i´d rather habe lighton at my show as an insperation or sth, than blake. i think its cause blake does a ´better´ publicity..and people like those blond all-american-actresses..
Half of the actress dress skank more than half the time lol. anywayz if it comes to that I prefer a well dressed skank over a horribly dressed non-skank.
@Pat Lester- No, there are definitely celebrities like Kate Bosworth, Alexa Chung and Rachel Bilson who go for the clothes because they’re interested in them but people like Blake and Leighton are just going for the celebrity quotient (except for example Blake loves Vena Cava so she’ll go anyway and Leighton, I dk).
And haha, Pat, Leighton and Michelle have stylists but Taylor and Blake dress themselves. But it’s true, it;s much easier to dress well when you’re being showered by designer goodies at every turn.

@Sasha- I don’t know. I think it’s pretty silly. This is why the fashion industry is not recovering from the slump. Because designers are too busy stocking their front row with celebrities who care so less about the clothes, they have to be paid just to show up.
@Jessica- I don’t agree with that but the thing is, Leighton is a fan favorite, but Blake is more widely acclaimed in the fashion industry. If you buy Vogue Italia or French Vogue, even Carine Rotfield loves her! Plus, she’s good friends with Victoria Beckham and is going to be the face of Posh’s line! So yes, she’s more respected there, especially in light of Leighton’s recent um, escapades.
Taylor, I expected to be paid more.
BUT Taylor is probably the only one out of all these, apart from Jessica who’s totally against this shit, who goes to shows for the clothes.
Whether you like Taylor’s style or not, she IS the one who pays most attention to her clothes.
And I think you need to realize that the fashion industry doesn’t give two fucks about who’s the better actress on the show.
Blake still gets more movie roles! She’s coming in a movie with Ryan Reynolds for god’s sakes!

I expected for Taylor to be paid more but whatever… Yeah… Maybe L is a better actress but B is much more accepted in fashion industry. And the fact that she doesn’t have a stylist …
@Sasha- Yep I definitely thought Taylor would get more. But maybe it’s an age issue…? And yeah she doesn’t have a stylist. Are you trying to insinuate something? I’m not just saying this, you can look it up.
I think that celebs like Blake and Taylor are more respected in fashion industry cuz they don’t have a stylist…. They know how to be fashionable alone…
It’s not shocking, the designers need them in front row. Besides they climbed up alot to get on Gossip Girl so I guess they deserve it.
I think its a lot to do with Gossip Girl, the show revolves around fashion – I know its one of the main reasons I watch it – and I think it holds a lot of influence over what we wear today. Think about how many designers give their clothes for free just so they can be seen on the show xoxo

@ExOh- But that has nothing to do with the fashion industry. A lot of designers like Marc Jacobs and most European designers don’t give two shits about starts except for some like Diane Kruger, Emma Watson, the Olsen twins, Kate Bosworth, Alexa Chung, Sofia Coppola, etc. They don’t DESERVE it. The fashion industry is in a bad enough state as it is economically without having to pay for stars to sit front row for press. This is why they’re getting bloggers now, they get as much press from the people who will BUY their stuff and don’t have to deal with their demands.
@Fabia Blackburn- Even though GG is a fashion centric show, it does not garner as much respect as, say, Sex and the City did fashion wise, simply because all the characters are too young. And they give it for free but only as samples. The costume designer has to be PR wise very well connected and so he has press contacts. Then, once used, he returns the stuff. They’re not gifting it.
