Hey everyone!
I know most of you love reading about the fashion and the gossip from the stars of our show, but this spoiler is too big a deal not to be mentioned! And for those who read me, you know that any CHAIR drama is a big deal!
Sooo…from what I’ve read in other articles on the site, a break-up is in the air, maybe involving beloved uncle Jack, and Chuck being the bad guy. I also read that apparently, most of you Chair fans didn”t have a clue or were totally surprised by this spoiler no one seemed to have seen coming.
Well, first, it would be a lie if I told you I wasn’t surprised: and like most of you I was shocked and didn’t -still don’t- want it to happen. But the more I get to think about it, the more plausible it actually sounds, -that a breakup was coming, and that Chuck played the bad part in it. Let me tell you why I think so.
On March 8th, we’ll learn more about the “back from the grave” mother Chuck may have found bringing flowers to his father’s grave. But ever since “The Debarted” we were shown the potential ending of Chuck’s being an orphan. And therefore, the end of the mature and responsible and serious Chuck most of you don’t like as much as the former Chuck Bass -personally I LOVE this new Chuck-. I guess, beside the Jack thing and a potential breakup, that if Chuck finds his mother he is most likely to get back to the wild and loose habits he was famous for. Because someone older and more legitimate would stand up for him -his mother. I know it’s all ideas and hypotheses, but this Chuck wouldn’t agree with the ruling and maternal Blair, with all the comfort and effort of keeping a serious relationship going she embodies. Let us remember that, according to her, they “belong together”.And let us not forget the possible tensions an unexpected “mother-in-law” might create in their couple…
Now, about Jack…remember that he is also suspected of playing a part in bringing Chuck’s mother back? Jack is the perfect evil scapegoat. Maybe Jack is behind both Chuck’s mother return AND the Chair break-up…even though Chuck despises him -haven’t you ever noticed that, like Carter, Jack is the same kind of bad guy and fraud, another idea of business than Chuck’s?- we saw last season that Chuck had trouble resisting indulging in certain bad habits Jack can provide him with…In that case Jack could appear to Chuck as his savior from a way too tightened relationship – being the one to tell him to live it up, to do things young men his age do like partying, enjoying multi-partner sex or just cheating on his “formal” girlfriend…
I have to say, it was too soon to last, Chuck being mature and responsible for good. Considering his past, it is kind of normal for him to still have flaws and temptations. The good news is , on the other hand it shows that Blair can be very willing and that her perfect mask of righteousness from Constance can become true, provided it has something to do with her burning love for Chuck. Don’t make me say Blair is a good person, she’s not -yet.
So? Still surprised? Ok, we’re all angry but, I hope that like me, you believe that in the end they’ll be together for good -whether it is this season or the following ones. Otherwise well, the series is pointless!!!

Out of all the couples on GG Blair and Chuck have been the one’s I’ve been rooting for the most! I completely agree with your views. Love the post!
i loove them
(( but i kno in ma heart even if they break up they well get back togeather in the end
I personally love Chuck and Blair, but maybe’s it’s just to create drama so the viewers don’t dose off. I do hope that they’ll end up together in the end. That’s what the scene was all about: the one where Blair pretended to have sex with Chuck in the preview.
ok chuck has changed out of love. its his love for blair that really changed him. i dont think if his mother returns thats why he will change. i think that the whole mother thing will be short like the scott thing. but 1 thing i dont get is if it is his mother then why did he never know about her.bart obviously still cared about her if her birthday was the combo to his safe and chuck knew so much about her like her faviorte flowers (who would have told him). i know that maybe the reason bart never told him where she was burried was because shes not dead but maybe the girl there was part of that secret club thing or barts reletive. maybe bart always loved her but she didnt want 2 be part of that club thing. idk im probebly wrong its just that i dont think that chuck will change because of some majical reunion with his supposely dead mother.
well, maybe, that’s an interesting point of view; but then, what would make him change so as to do something that would lead to a CHAIR break-up (supposedly he’s the one responsible).?
And although we don’t know how important the “mother” plot is going to last; if it plays a big part in the incoming episodes, I think we cannot underestimate the major change she can play in chuck’s perspective – she’s his mother, and he has always lived in a fatherly world where you had to be tough, she was a void in his life…I mean maybe it’s all just pseudo psychology but if she reappears, he can either hate her or worship her.
i don’t think that chuck’s changed that much: I think he is himself fully aware of the limits of his change when in “how to succeed in bassness” he tells blair to do her evil schemes on other people than themselves…Chuck still knows how to have his way with his enemies, how to plot and such; the difference is he has acknowledged a range of people around him he cares about -instead of denying it or pushing them away- and is trying to act so to protect them.
what do you think?
